Fall is among us and this season is all about adding interesting accents to your everyday outfits from bold prints to quirky sneakers.
Adding patterns into your Fall wardrobe is a great way to mix things up. Bold prints and polka dot sweaters were seen all over the Fall runway in collections by Altuzarra, Alice + Olivia, and Kenzo, to name a few. Fashion stylists and students agree you can create classy sophisticated outfits this season by pairing bold prints with skinny jeans and boots.
“Polka-dots are my favorite and they are up-and-coming, so I will wear them all the time [this Fall],” Sophomore and Communications major Melissa Flynn said.
You can also add excitement to your workout gear or everyday outfits with neon sneakers. Both guys and girls are seen wearing the bright sneaker trend this season. Sneakers in neon colors and designs have been popping up on runways and in street style.
“I used to love sneakers, but I never knew how to make them work with all of the prints and patterns in my closet. Then I realized, who cares. Confidence is the greatest thing you can wear,” Sophomore Maggie Tobin said.
Neon sneakers make a statement and are sure to catch people’s attention, Aviation Science major Mack Ransford added.
Accessories, like jewelry, are also a great way to get more milage out of your clothes. According to Stylist Rachel Zoe, earrings can make an outfit edgy, classic, or unexpected. Thrift stores are also a great place to find unique inexpensive jewelry.
“Right now, our biggest jewelry crush is on statement earrings. This is obviously due to the multiple appearances made by the glitzy gems on the Spring runways: Oscar de la Renta, Jill Sander, and Bottega Veneta,” Zoe said on her blog titled “The Zoe Report.”
According to fashion writers on the website Refinery29.comChristene Barberich and Connie Wang, boots are a fall essential and return every season with new details and colors.
“Wear them with everything and as often as possible to give them that seasoned broken-in feel that only a good rainy festival can replicate,” they suggested.
